Shouldn't That Read Science Fiction? |

Welcome to Science Fusion - Science Fiction for the new millennium. A fair proportion of people turn away from Science Fiction because they associate it with cardboard characters set against mind-boggling backdrops; they can see no relevance to their own lives and daily struggle. What I have attempted to do with Science Fusion is to blend real, identifiable characters into a story that is futuristic, but encompasses reality. It is aimed at everyone - from those that like the forward looking theories of Science Fiction to those that like to see interaction between people in love, in life and in turmoil. Iridium is my first attempt at this new genre. It is a gritty world inspired by the low budget film 'Dark Star' by John Carpenter. His idea of space travel was no longer an exciting, hi-tech place for the privileged few; instead it had become a necessary evil with burnt out crewmembers just doing their job. So, basing the start of Iridium on the feel of Dark Star, I created my own mass-produced 'lowest bidder' style ship, and then populated it with typically unsuitable people you'd find in most offices today - just doing their job to pay their way in life. It's futuristic, but it's also approachable and realistic. Come then, open your eyes to Science Fusion and discover a blend of intelligent Sci-Fi and humanity. |
